Get ready for all the liquid lipsticks that will be launched in 2017! Even if it’s not a super new formula, I think we reached the peak of its popularity (before its decline?) And all the makeup brands without exception will release their version. So today, let me introduce you to the\u00a0Marc Jacobs Le Marc Liquid Lip Cr\u00e8me<\/a>!<\/h2>\n

Indie makeup brands<\/a> launched the first matte liquid lipsticks about three years ago, and since last year, all the more conventional makeup brands are also releasing their own version of liquid lipsticks<\/strong>. Obviously, it’s not a big innovation anymore, but on the other hand, the formulas of the conventional makeup brands are usually\u00a0very well made<\/strong> and they often add some lip care ingredients<\/strong> in the formula, and they have a more luxurious packaging<\/strong>. So it may be worthwhile taking a look at what classic brands have to offer in this lipstick category! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

I heard great things about the Marc Jacobs<\/strong> Le Marc Liquid Lip Cr\u00e8me<\/strong>. They are not really 100% matte liquid lipsticks but rather satin\/ semi-matte<\/strong> ones. They remind me of my favorite from ColourPop, the Ultra Satin Lip<\/a>, still my favorite liquid lipsticks ever.
\nI think I prefer these type of finishes, more flattering on the lips than the totally matte finishes.<\/p>\n

I bought two colors: Slow Burn<\/strong> and Shush Blush<\/strong> and here are my impressions:<\/p>\n

What the brand says about them:<\/p>\n

The brand describes them as liquid lipsticks with a satin finish<\/strong>, but for me, they have more of a semi-matte finish<\/strong>. They become more matte after a few minutes although at first, they are quite shiny when you just apply them.<\/p>\n

The formula is creamy<\/strong>, and they don’t dry completely like a classic matte liquid lipstick, so they remain a little bit sticky on the lips, and they also transfer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

They are super comfortable, and I would even say I find them moisturizing<\/strong>. The brand speaks about some lip care ingredients added to the formula like Brazilian cupua\u00e7u butter and collagen. They are indeed very flattering<\/strong> on the lips because they don’t emphasize at all the fine lines you may have, on the contrary, they have a plumping effect, which I appreciate more and more (because I’m old lol).<\/p>\n

There are six colors<\/strong> available in the range. They are rather on the neutral<\/strong> side, there is no red, no pink, no violet, etc. in the range. At the moment, I can’t get enough nudes, so it doesn’t bother me too much! But I still hope there will be other colors, maybe this summer?
\nThe brand also speaks of a long-lasting<\/strong> effect (8h).<\/p>\n

They retail for $28<\/strong>. It’s Marc Jacobs, the prices are usually high, so it’s not a surprise.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Packaging:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The packaging is very simple. It’s a black lacquered plastic bottle with a\u00a0silver ring<\/strong>. A\u00a0nice little detail: you can see the color of the product through a small transparent circle on the tube.
\nI find it quite classy and elegant, although I regret a little its simplicity. The Marc Jacobs packagings always have a little extra stuff that makes me feel like it’s worth the price. But here, it’s very sober (almost too much).<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Formula:<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s a liquid texture but quite creamy<\/strong>, like a real melted lipstick. It’s rather easy to apply, it doesn’t smudge, and it’s easy to spread on the lips.<\/p>\n

– Scent:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The brand speaks of a delicate vanilla fragrance. I’m not so sure about that. It’s a pretty heavily sweet and chemical fragrance<\/strong>. I was expecting something more subtle from Marc Jacobs. Luckily, the scent doesn’t last and is not too heavy.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Application:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The foam applicator<\/strong> is rather small and precise<\/strong>. Also, the formula doesn’t really set, so you can take your time to draw nice contours.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Pigmentation and coverage:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The pigmentation<\/strong> and the coverage<\/strong> are very good<\/strong>\u00a0and in one layer! The two shades I own are great and easy to apply on the lips.<\/p>\n

– Finish and feeling on the lips:<\/strong><\/p>\n

When you apply it, it leaves a satin finish<\/strong> on the lips (I would call it shiny, it’s not really like a gloss or a lip lacquer) but it dries more and more on the lips throughout the day, and 2-3 hours after, it becomes semi-matte<\/strong>.
\nHowever, they don’t completely dry out like conventional matte lipsticks, which means that they’re not 100% without transfer<\/strong>. I find that the formula behaves very well on the lips, they don’t smudge and are rather easy to live.
\nI also feel that they’re moisturizing<\/strong>, it’s really a very comfortable formula<\/strong>. Even when they become semi-matte,\u00a0they’re not drying and leave the lips very supple.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Lasting power:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The lasting power is decent<\/strong>, but clearly, they don’t last 8h on me. After a meal, you have to do a touch-up. They last more something like 5-6 hours<\/strong> on me, which is not bad! They keep\u00a0a good intensity on the lips.
\nThe outline is a little less sharp at the end of the day, but with this kind of neutral colors, it’s not very noticeable.<\/p>\n

–Price:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The price is aligned with the luxury image of the brand, they retail\u00a0for $28 <\/strong>for 3.5 ml of product. Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either. wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

The range of 6 colors is mostly neutral<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/strong>nudes, dusty pinks, browns… No bright reds, nor fuchsia pink. I was quite surprised, but I imagine that the range will grow soon?<\/p>\n

I chose two pinky nudes (= my kind of nude, I’m not a\u00a0fan of colors that look like a concealer, as it seems to be the case for the Light Buff shade).<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Slow Burn<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/strong>a stunning pinky brown<\/strong>.\u00a0You probably know that it’s typically the kind of shades I’m obsessed with, but I must say that this one is particularly stunning! It’s not too mauve, neither too brown nor too pink, it’s just perfect<\/strong>! This color goes with all makeup looks, and it just has the right intensity to subtly enhance the lips. FYI, if you are a fan of this particular color, there is also a Slow Burn in the range of the Le Marc Lip Cr\u00e8me<\/a> lipsticks. And it’s exactly the same shade! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

–\u00a0Shush Blush<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/strong>a darker warm dusty pink. <\/strong>I thought it would be a raspberry pink but not at all. It’s such a pretty and flattering color. It gives a soft glow to my face when I don’t want to rock a bright shade.<\/p>\n

I really like this lipstick range, which I find easy and very pleasant to wear! The color range is quite short and a little too focused on the nudes, but I must say that I’m very fond of these subtle shades. They’re stunning (OK maybe except Light Buff tongue<\/span> )!<\/p>\n
