I feel like I need to start this review by confessing that I’m not one of Lanc\u00f4me’s biggest fans. But still, these\u00a0Matte Shaker Liquid Lipsticks<\/a>\u00a0peaked my interest!<\/b><\/h2>\n

Unlike most of my fellow bloggers, I wasn’t impressed with the Juicy Shakers<\/a> released last year.
\nI bought one in duty-free to try it, and I just didn’t understand the point of this product. All the colors look the same when you wear them, the fragrances are fruity and nice but not super innovative (it reminds me of the Juicy Tubes<\/a> from my teenage years) and their so-called moisturizing effect thanks to their oil texture wasn’t really obvious. In short, for me, the Juicy Shakers are a bit too gimmicky!
\nAnd to keep on bitching, I find that sadly, a lot of products launched by Lisa Eldridge<\/a> are a little bit gimmicky. She’s been the artistic director of Lanc\u00f4me for a few years now, and I was expecting a lot from her! I’m usually such a fan of her work. But come on, did you see this ridiculous $60 fake rose-highlighter<\/a>? I just can’t.
\nMaybe I’m not the target of this brand, after all…<\/p>\n

But for once, I was quite tempted<\/strong> by these Matte Shaker Liquid Lipsticks. I really liked the idea of a second skin lipstick, especially if it’s very long-lasting! And also, they seemed much more pigmented than the Juicy Shakers.<\/p>\n

Let’s see if they kept their promises!<\/p>\n

The brand describes it as a liquid lipstick with a matte finish<\/strong> and a very lightweight feeling<\/strong>\u00a0on the lips paired with an intense, long-lasting color<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Lanc\u00f4me uses a special technology for this Matte Shaker<\/strong> formula:
\n– the base of the formula is composed mainly of water<\/strong>, which allows for a great concentration of pigments while keeping a super lightweight effect on the lips (the texture is indeed super liquid)
\n– also, the formula of these Matte Shaker is enriched with silicone oils<\/strong> that give comfort but also allow to keep a matte finish,
\n– finally, it also includes film-forming polymers<\/strong>, which increase the coverage and lasting power. No risk of a\u00a0crumbly texture, the finish remains supple on the lips.<\/p>\n

There are 7 colors<\/strong> in the range, and their price is $22<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Packaging: <\/strong><\/p>\n

Quite cool and fun<\/strong>!
\nIt has the shape of a shaker, and it must be shaken to impregnate the pigments of the formula in the cushion-shaped foam applicator. It’s the same packaging as the Juicy Shakers<\/a>, but the Matte Shaker has a black lacquered top (the top is silvery for the Juicy Shaker).<\/p>\n

– Texture:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s a very liquidy texture<\/strong>, almost watery.<\/p>\n

– Finish:<\/strong><\/p>\n

That’s where I don’t totally agree with the brand claims. The finish is not really matte for me<\/strong>. It’s a little bit shiny, or at the most, it could be called semi-matte<\/strong> (they’re very different from the super matte Wet n Wild lipsticks<\/a> I mentioned a few weeks ago, for example). It also takes several minutes to dry on the lips. However, when it’s dry, it becomes completely transfer-free and kiss-proof<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

– Scent: <\/strong><\/p>\n

They have a soft fruity<\/strong> scent, much less pronounced than the perfumes of the Juicy Shakers.<\/p>\n

\u00a0– Color range: <\/strong><\/p>\n

The 7 shades<\/strong> in the range are quite nice even if they remain fairly classic. Too bad, no real nudes in the range. The colors are quite bright<\/strong> (red, pink, orange).<\/p>\n

– Pigmentation:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The pigmentation is good. However, you need to shake the bottle very well to distribute the pigments in the formula. Otherwise, the coverage is not optimum on the lips.<\/p>\n

– Application:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I’m not a fan of this “cushion” applicator<\/strong>. Yes, it’s very soft and nice, but it’s also not precise at all! It’s too big and round to draw sharp contours. I have to apply a lip pencil systematically underneath to not have a “blurry” result. Especially with bright colors, it’s not ideal!
\nAlso, be aware of not soaking up too much product on it and especially do not press it too hard against the lips during the application otherwise, it can overflow. And the formula stains the skin, so good luck with any corrections!<\/p>\n

– Feeling on the lips: <\/strong><\/p>\n

They dry in a few minutes and form an ultra-light film on the lips, like a second skin<\/strong>. You can barely feel them on the lips.
\nThey’re not especially moisturizing, but they’re not drying either. It’s really like a “bare lips” feeling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

– Lasting power:<\/strong><\/p>\n

It varies completely from one shade to another<\/strong>.
\nWith the Beige Vintage shade, it lasts about 1\/2 day. It can’t resist a meal at all, and I have to reapply after I eat and drink.
\nFor Pink Power, the lasting power is insane<\/strong>. It doesn’t move after a\u00a0meal and tints the lips in a very durable way. Probably too durable because even when I use a makeup remover, it’s still on my lips. My lips remain neon pink even after I used my cleansing oil. -_-
\nI have to use a lip scrub to remove the hue. It’s kind of annoying, really. It looks like the brand didn’t know how to manage the pigment concentration in these products…<\/p>\n

– Value for money: <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Matte Shaker is not perfect IMO.\u00a0So, I’m not sure I would say it’s a very good value for money. It’s OK, but not the best.<\/p>\n

– Beige Vintage (270): <\/strong>a\u00a0warm pinky brown<\/strong>. I expected more of a nude color, it’s more an intense nude shade! smile<\/span> It’s a very nice color which goes with many makeup looks.<\/p>\n

– Pink Power (378): <\/strong>a\u00a0bright fuchsia pink<\/strong>, super vibrant. This shade gives a lot of radiance to the complexion. I really like it!<\/p>\n

In short, I really like lightweight feeling and the nice coverage, like a very pigmented lip stain. But if you want an ultra-matte finish, this is clearly not the case with these lipsticks. And the lasting power is quite different from one color to another: either it doesn’t resist a meal, or it lasts so well that it remains on the lips even when you want to remove them which is a bit annoying! uneasy<\/span> <\/p>\n
