It’s a professional makeup brand, so makeup artists need some choice!

My husband didn’t choose the colors on his own, he showed my blog (with pictures of me in particular) to the MUFE sales assistant (who looked adorable by the way) and she made a rather safe selection, I would say. Honestly, having been a salesperson for many years, it’s definitely what you have to do in this case. Advising ultra colorful makeup for a gift, it’s a bit of a sale’s suicide! wink
So here, it’s rather neutral shades, always a pretty option and which go with everything!

So she selected three eyeshadows in shades of beige/sand/brown and a bright coral blush. I also think that she believed I had a fairer skin than I actually have, as the coraly blush is very light for me. However, my husband told me that she had advised him it could also be used as an eyeshadow.
Indeed, MUFE eyeshadows can be used on eyes and cheek in some cases (not the green or the bright yellow of course!).

The shadows were chosen all in satiny finish and the shades are the S-516 (Sand), the S-642 (Sahara), the S-616 (Chocolate) and the S-718 (salmon).

– The S-516 is a flesh almost beige shade. It’s very discreet but luminous. Usually I apply it on my entire eyelid and also in the inner corner.
– The S-642 is a antique gold/sand shade that makes me think of Soba by MAC. I usually it apply on my eyelid but also along my lower lashes.
– The S-616 is a warm brown, which is well named (its name is Chocolate). I applied it in the crease, the outer V, along the lash line and why not on the eyelid for a very smoky effect.
– The S-718 is a light orangy coral shade, almost nude. I tried it as a blush on my cheeks but the color is too light for me. I also tried to apply it on my eyelids, usually as a transition color to blend a darker eyeshadow.

All four have a satiny finish that has a sheen but is not at all iridescent or glittery. It’s really easy to wear this satiny finish every day. It doesn’t need the addition of matte eyeshadows to give some depth, these satin shades already had some definition by themselves.

Texture wise, they are not powdery at all. I don’t feel the “powder gel” texture too much when I’m applying it, but what’s great about them is that they really don’t make any fall out during the application. Not one.

When I was preparing this post, I’d heard of a specific technique to use these eyeshadows.
So basically, instead of gently placing the brush on the eyeshadow, you have to press the eyeshadow and make back and forth trips to get eyeshadow on both faces of the flat brush.

I tried it and actually, this technique allows to “out” the pigments, the color shows up more on the skin. If the brush is just placed onto the eyeshadow, it tends to harden its surface and it is not possible to “catch” the pigments correctly. So a fingertip application seems to be excluded with these shadows (or with a sponge applicator) (but I hope it never even crossed your mind;) ).
It’s a little bit technical, I know, but trust me, it’s worth it!

Otherwise, the big plus of these eyeshadows is that they almost blend by themselves on the skin, no risk of making any mistakes when you apply them! I think they are absolutely perfect for someone who is not necessarily used to use pro makeup and who fears of not knowing how to apply them.

About the lasting power on my eyelids, I have to apply a base before to avoid them for creasing, like every other eyeshadow I’m using, really. With the base, they last 8 to 10 hours on my eyelids without any issue.

It’s a gift but I still inquired about the price and they are not cheap, let me tell you that! The price for one refill is $21. However, these eyeshadows are very generous in size (2g), they are bigger than most other shadows from brands with similar quality.

So, in summary:

[wprs-pros][wprs-cons]

I would say these MUFE Satin Artist Shadow will probably be more for people who want a very natural makeup. For a makeup junkie like me, I was not totally blown away by the pigmentation… (my husband will love to know that)(oops wink ) However, I love the fact that they’re so easy to blend, it’s such a time saver!

Of course, it was a gift here and the reason I got these eyeshadows was more to please me than to give me some makeup to crash-test lol!
But in fact, as I am incorrigible, it made me want to discover the metal and matte finishes from this range of Artist Shadow by MUFE. They’re supposed to have an insane pigmentation! ;P

Finally, here are the swatches:

On me:

As you can see (or not see) in the photo above, Salmon S-718 used as a blush is almost invisible on my cheeks despite the huge amount of product used!
I tried it as an eyeshadow, it was much better! smile

I added a pencil liner along my lashline (Bourjois Contour Clubbing Waterproof in the shade Up and Brown) and about my mascara, it’s the new one by Bourjois: the Volume Mascara 1 seconde Ultra Black (which would be great if only it didn’t smudge as much)(ultra pigmented black mascaras always smudge like crazy on me, it’s so annoying!
