And traditional makeup brands have so much to worry about&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p>MAC, Nars, Dior, even Maybelline are starting to look seriously square when compared to these new modern and dynamic makeup companies.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"ColourPop\" href=\"https:\/\/colourpop.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">ColourPop<\/a>, <a title=\"Makeup Geek\" href=\"https:\/\/www.makeupgeek.com\/store\/\" target=\"_blank\">Makeup Geek<\/a>, <a title=\"Zoeva\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zoeva-shop.de\/\" target=\"_blank\">Zoeva<\/a>, <a title=\"Sigma Beauty\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sigmabeauty.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sigma Beauty<\/a>,\u00a0<a title=\"Gerard Cosmetics\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gerardcosmetics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gerard Cosmetics<\/a>&#8230;\u00a0These names may mean nothing to you now but believe me, very soon, you will see them everywhere!<\/p>\n<p>Now, the real question is: Will they count as a real <strong>trend<\/strong> in cosmetics or will it be just a very ephemeral <strong>buzz<\/strong>, just like a flash in the pan?<\/p>\n<h3>Indie Makeup brand characteristics:<\/h3>\n<div class=\"full-width\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/indie_makeup_buzz_or_trend.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6991\" src=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/indie_makeup_buzz_or_trend.jpg\" alt=\"Indie Makeup\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Indie Makeup brands, as their name suggests, are <strong>independent<\/strong> makeup brands, they\u00a0don&#8217;t belong to a large group like L&#8217;Oreal, LVMH and co.<\/p>\n<p>These are <strong>small companies<\/strong>, relatively <strong>recent<\/strong> (most of them are\u00a0less than 5 years old). The teams behind these brands are usually quite limited, sometimes only 1 or 2 people. If you&#8217;re like me and you like to support small business, it&#8217;s really something significant because at least you know exactly who you&#8217;re\u00a0giving your money to! <span class=\"wp-smiley emoji emoji-wink\" title=\";)\">wink<\/span> <\/p>\n<p>These brands <strong>don&#8217;t have many choices of products<\/strong>, especially at first. An Indie Makeup brand may\u00a0for example start by selling only lipsticks and then, depending on its success, create a larger product range\u00a0later on.<\/p>\n<p>However, regarding the <strong>choice of colors<\/strong>, they have played their cards beautifully! They do have less commercial pressure than classic makeup brands, so there is less of an obligation\u00a0to be limiting themselves\u00a0only to colors that sell. For those addicted to color, especially the crazy ones, the Indie Makeup brands are a blessing!<\/p>\n<p>They also stand well with their <strong>prices<\/strong>. A smaller structure can save costs where a bigger company just\u00a0can&#8217;t, and generally, the price of the products are quite <strong>competitive<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>That doesn&#8217;t mean they skimp on <strong>quality<\/strong>! They depend mainly on the principle of &#8220;<strong>word of mouth<\/strong>&#8220;, so having\u00a0<strong>high-quality\u00a0<\/strong>products is a must.<\/p>\n<p>You can mainly find these Indie makeup brands<strong> online<\/strong>. They&#8217;re what you&#8217;d could call &#8216;pure players&#8217; which means that they have no &#8220;physical&#8221; stores. This reduces costs and also allows them to target\u00a0a large customer base, especially if they offer international delivery! <span class=\"wp-smiley emoji emoji-wink\" title=\";)\">wink<\/span> <\/p>\n<h3>Indie Makeup brands&#8217; communication:<\/h3>\n<div class=\"full-width\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/gerard_cosmetics_lipsticks_indie_makeup_buzz_or_trend.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6990\" src=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/gerard_cosmetics_lipsticks_indie_makeup_buzz_or_trend.jpg\" alt=\"G\u00e9rard Cosmetics lipsticks\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Of course, the Indie Makeup brands don&#8217;t have the means of multinationals like L&#8217;Oreal and Shiseido for example, but a very well known slogan in France is: <strong>We<\/strong> <b class=\"b1\">do<\/b><b class=\"b2\">n&#8217;t h<\/b><b class=\"b3\">ave<\/b><b class=\"b4\"> oil<\/b><b class=\"b5\">, but w<\/b><b class=\"b4\">e\u00a0<\/b><b class=\"b3\">h<\/b><b class=\"b4\">av<\/b><b class=\"b5\">e ideas<\/b>! And it&#8217;s exactly the case for these brands. <span class=\"wp-smiley emoji emoji-smile\" title=\":)\">smile<\/span> <\/p>\n<p>These brands essentially use the principle of\u00a0<strong>word of mouth<\/strong>, and to do so, they use two very powerful and modern weapons:<br \/>\n&#8211; <strong>social media<\/strong>,<br \/>\n&#8211; and <strong>influencers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Indie Makeup\u00a0brands that are successful have really been able to adopt a communication based essentially on a spirit of <strong>community<\/strong>, paired with a very <strong>close relationship<\/strong> with their customers.<\/p>\n<p>This strategy is made possible thanks to social\u00a0media platforms like <strong>Instagram<\/strong>, allowing them to <strong>stage<\/strong>\u00a0products but also to <strong>share<\/strong> makeup looks, <strong>tutorials,<\/strong> to show how to use the products, and\u00a0of course\u00a0<strong>repost<\/strong> makeup looks from\u00a0real customers of the brand.<br \/>\nMore than ever, makeup has become a real <strong>mean of self-expression<\/strong> and so many makeup artists amateurs&#8217; accounts post every day on their Instagram account pictures of very colorful and creative makeup looks!<\/p>\n<p>And when the brand is smart enough to use all these tools at their disposal efficiently, a\u00a0vibrant <strong>fan community<\/strong>\u00a0can emerge\u00a0around it. A\u00a0brand can share product photos but also information on future releases on its <strong>Facebook page or website<\/strong>, for example. And all this without a huge and expensive advertising campaign!<br \/>\nThis has been\u00a0<a title=\"ColourPop Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ColourPopCosmetics\" target=\"_blank\">ColourPop<\/a>&#8216;s successful strategy. The launch\u00a0of\u00a0their new blushes on the 12th of February was a real event, awaited by a lot of beauty addicts worldwide, just because ColourPop has created a buzz\u00a0about it on their social media\u00a0accounts. (And yes, of course, I was impatient too! ;))<\/p>\n<p>Social media\u00a0is also an opportunity to communicate on the <strong>promotions<\/strong> they may have. The brand <a title=\"Gerard Cosmetics\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gerardcosmetics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gerard Cosmetics<\/a>, for example, is constantly doing it on its Instagram page or its Twitter feed.(for me, it&#8217;s a little bit too much though and I&#8217;m wondering if the products are not overpriced\u00a0to take into account the constant reductions)<\/p>\n<p>And don&#8217;t forget <strong>Pinterest<\/strong>, which not only shares pictures of products but especially takes the user directly to the brand&#8217;s retail website. To search inspiration for new makeup looks but then\u00a0have a button to purchase that\u00a0new beauty product, well\u00a0that&#8217;s only one click away with Pinterest! <span class=\"wp-smiley emoji emoji-wink\" title=\";)\">wink<\/span> <\/p>\n<p>To go further in these tutorials, these brands can also <strong>create their own YouTube channel<\/strong> and suggest\u00a0new makeup looks regularly as\u00a0<strong>inspiration<\/strong>\u00a0for their customers or simply teach\u00a0them how to make the <strong>best use<\/strong> of their products! Obviously, I think about Marlena, the creator of the brand Makeup Geek who uses <a title=\"MakeupGeekTV\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCE1BqH-72EBs-siTbDAjOGQ\" target=\"_blank\">her YouTube channel<\/a> (which existed before\u00a0her brand) to show her own\u00a0products in some very creative tutorials as well as some in depth reviews.<\/p>\n<p>Another very successful strategy for Indie Makeup brands is to\u00a0<strong>use the influence of\u00a0beauty\u00a0bloggers and Youtubers<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThey can just send them their products in the hope\u00a0they will\u00a0mention them in a blog post or a video. Of course, it&#8217;s a little risky because while they can say good things, they can\u00a0also say bad things if they want to.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>partnership<\/strong> between a brand and influencers is also a commonly used technique.<br \/>\nIndie Makeup brands can associate themselves with some YouTubers to <strong>create a product<\/strong> or even a range\u00a0with them. Of course, they will benefit from the <strong>Youtubers&#8217; reputation and image<\/strong>.<br \/>\nOf course, there is also a trade agreement behind, so it&#8217;s <strong>win-win<\/strong> for the two parties!<\/p>\n<p>The brand ColourPop recently did a partnership with the YouTuber <a title=\"Kathleen Lights Lumi\u00e8re\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/KmrOMlXM3YU\" target=\"_blank\">Kathleen Lights<\/a> \u00a0to create a shade (Lumi\u00e8re) for its lip products: a <a title=\"Lumi\u00e8re\" href=\"https:\/\/colourpop.com\/product\/lumiere\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lippie Stix<\/a>\u00a0(lipstick) along with a matching Lip Pencil.<br \/>\nThe Youtuber <a title=\"Jaclyn Hill\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8_uLoaqtWwc\" target=\"_blank\">Jaclyn Hill<\/a>\u00a0had previously done the same thing with Gerard Cosmetics for its famous lipstick <a title=\"1995\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gerardcosmetics.com\/shop\/lips\/1995-lipstick.html\" target=\"_blank\">1995<\/a>\u00a0(inspired by <a title=\"The secret of Kylie Jenner\u2019s pouty mouth\" href=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/en\/2014\/06\/28\/the-secret-of-kylie-jenners-pouty-mouth\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kylie Jenner lips<\/a>\u00a0colour) and it&#8217;s a <strong>best-seller<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<h3>Focus on four interesting Indie Makeup brands:<\/h3>\n<div class=\"full-width\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/makeup_geek_z_palette_indie_makeup_buzz_or_trend.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6992\" src=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/makeup_geek_z_palette_indie_makeup_buzz_or_trend.jpg\" alt=\"Makeup Geek\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<h4><a title=\"MUG\" href=\"https:\/\/www.makeupgeek.com\/store\/\" target=\"_blank\">Makeup Geek<\/a>:<\/h4>\n<p>I already introduced Makeup Geek in detail, in my post\u00a0on <a title=\"Makeup Geek Foiled eyeshadows, my review\" href=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/en\/2015\/03\/06\/makeup_geek_foiled_eyeshadows_my_review\/\" target=\"_blank\">Foiled eyeshadows<\/a> a few weeks ago.<br \/>\nFounded in 2011, it&#8217;s currently one of the most dynamic makeup brands in the US market.<\/p>\n<p>When Marlena from the\u00a0<a title=\"Makeup Geek TV\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/MakeupGeekTV\" target=\"_blank\">Makeup GeekTV<\/a>\u00a0 YouTube channel launched her brand a few years ago,\u00a0it quickly became a real game changer in the makeup world.<br \/>\n<strong>MUG<\/strong> (for short) started with only brushes and eyeshadows (the quality is just as good or sometimes even better than the MAC eyeshadows and only for $ 5.99 each!). Since then, her brand has added sublime pigments, gels liners, lipsticks and also blushes.<br \/>\nMakeup Geek is constantly praised for the <strong>high quality of its products<\/strong> and its ultra <strong>responsive and efficient customer servic<\/strong>e.<\/p>\n<p>New products are planned for\u00a0release in the coming weeks and I can already tell you that I am extremely excited to discover what Marlena has planned!<\/p>\n<div class=\"full-width\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/colourpop_indie_makeup_buzz_or_trend.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6989\" src=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/colourpop_indie_makeup_buzz_or_trend.jpg\" alt=\"Colourpop\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<h4><a title=\"ColourPop\" href=\"https:\/\/colourpop.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">ColourPop<\/a>:<\/h4>\n<p>For me, ColourPop is truly the brand to watch this year!<\/p>\n<p>Native to\u00a0Los Angeles, ColourPop is a brand of <strong>innovative and super colorful<\/strong> makeup products. It offers a <strong>wide range<\/strong> of eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks and lip pencils in all imaginable colors, even the most <a title=\"Green and blue\" href=\"https:\/\/colourpop.com\/product-category\/lippie-stix-and-pencils\/?filter_shade=116\" target=\"_blank\">unexpected<\/a>.<br \/>\nAnd they only cost $5! (except the blushes at\u00a0$8)<\/p>\n<p>Both eyeshadows and blushes have one of the most <strong>interesting and unique formulas<\/strong> I&#8217;ve seen so far: they are very creamy, soft, almost &#8220;bouncy&#8221; (like a kind of &#8220;foam&#8221;) while remaining a powder texture, and all that with incredible pigmentation.<\/p>\n<p>Their website is one of the <strong>smartest<\/strong> of the moment. For example, to show the products, ColourPop shows <a title=\"ColourPop blushs\" href=\"https:\/\/colourpop.com\/product\/olive\/\" target=\"_blank\">swatches<\/a> of the different shades\u00a0(as does Makeup Geek) but on <strong>three different skin colors<\/strong>! Great idea, isn&#8217;t it?<br \/>\nMAC should really do something like that on its <a title=\"MAC\" href=\"http:\/\/www.maccosmetics.com\/index.tmpl\" target=\"_blank\">own website<\/a>&#8230; If I want to look at some MAC&#8217;s products colours, the last thing I&#8217;ll do is look at its website. You can find far more faithful images on Google Images. Frankly, it&#8217;s not great\u00a0for a famous brand! <span class=\"wp-smiley emoji emoji-uneasy\" title=\":\/\">uneasy<\/span> <\/p>\n<p>The ColourPop customer service is also <strong>super pro and responsive<\/strong>, just like\u00a0MUG.<br \/>\nI had the opportunity to experience this myself\u00a0when I ordered from\u00a0them. There was a mistake in the delivery, and I received one\u00a0product rather than\u00a0another. I contacted the customer service and within 24 hours, they sent me a code that allowed me to reorder the missing product, with\u00a0free shipping on top. I reordered my product and obviously, I added a few others! Come on, the delivery was free!!! Oh wait&#8230;<br \/>\n<strong>Well done ColourPop!<\/strong> <span class=\"wp-smiley emoji emoji-wink\" title=\";)\">wink<\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Finally, ColourPop also likes to partner\u00a0up\u00a0through\u00a0<strong>collaborations<\/strong> with social media influencers like YouTube and Instagram stars as <a title=\"shaaanxo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/shaaanxo\" target=\"_blank\">Shaaanxo<\/a>, <a title=\"KathleenLights\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/KathleenLights\" target=\"_blank\">KathleenLights<\/a>\u00a0or <a title=\"Megan Naik\" href=\"https:\/\/instagram.com\/beautybymegannaik\" target=\"_blank\">Megan Naik<\/a>. These &#8220;collabs&#8221; are highly anticipated\u00a0and always successful.<\/p>\n<div class=\"full-width\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/zoeva_sigma_brushes_indie_makeup_buzz_or_trend.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6993\" src=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/zoeva_sigma_brushes_indie_makeup_buzz_or_trend.jpg\" alt=\"Zoeva Sigma brushes\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<h4><a title=\"Zoeva\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zoeva-shop.de\/\" target=\"_blank\">Zoeva<\/a>:<\/h4>\n<p>Zoeva is a <strong>German<\/strong> cosmetic brand (finally a European brand, phew, no loss of face <span class=\"wp-smiley emoji emoji-wink\" title=\";)\">wink<\/span>  ).<\/p>\n<p>The brand began with the production of high quality <strong>makeup brushes<\/strong> with one\u00a0very interesting characteristic: a\u00a0<strong>very low price<\/strong>.<br \/>\nTheir brushes have been unanimously acclaimed for their softness and superior quality. They have indeed massively distributed their products to famous bloggers and YouTubers. Also, their packaging very &#8220;Instagram-friendly&#8221; really helped with\u00a0their success, especially their <a title=\"Zoeva\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zoeva-shop.de\/rose-golden-luxury-set\/a-8000382\/\" target=\"_blank\">rose-gold range<\/a>.<br \/>\nI bought that set myself and I was also <a title=\"ZOEVA Rose Golden Luxury Set Brushes, my review\" href=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/en\/2014\/09\/25\/zoeva-rose-golden-luxury-set-brushes-my-review\/\" target=\"_blank\">very enthusiastic<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>Recently,\u00a0\u00a0they also created their own <strong>line of makeup<\/strong> that includes eyeshadows, blushers and lipsticks. I don&#8217;t know them (yet) but I think it is certainly worth investigating, don&#8217;t you think? <span class=\"wp-smiley emoji emoji-wink\" title=\";)\">wink<\/span> <\/p>\n<h4><a title=\"Sigma Beauty\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sigmabeauty.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sigma Beauty<\/a>:<\/h4>\n<p>Sigma Beauty is an <strong>American<\/strong>\u00a0makeup brand that became famous when\u00a0they offered significantly <strong>cheaper dupes of MAC brushes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Now, they have expanded <strong>exponentially<\/strong> their range of brushes and they also have a <strong>full line of makeup<\/strong>. They offer tons of different products such as eyeshadow palettes, liners gels, lip glitter, blushes etc.<br \/>\nSince last year, they also opened their first &#8220;physical&#8221; store in the US at\u00a0the Mall of America (in Minnesota).<\/p>\n<p>Like many other Indie Makeup brands, they also collaborate frequently with YouTubers or beauty bloggers such as <a title=\"MakeupByTiffanyD\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCrKdCadbo4eN_toHMa4-FSA\" target=\"_blank\">TiffanyD<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And of course, <strong>these brands deliver worlwide<\/strong>\u00a0(well, except ColourPop but my gut tells me that it won&#8217;t be long).<\/p>\n<h3>The limits of Indie Makeup:<\/h3>\n<div class=\"portrait-images\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/boycott_limecrime.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6996\" src=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/boycott_limecrime.jpg\" alt=\"#boycottlimecrime\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/limecrime_lips.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6997\" src=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/limecrime_lips.jpg\" alt=\"limecrime lips\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>And then sometimes the <strong>community<\/strong> that is the great strength of Indie Makeup brands,\u00a0<strong>can turn against them<\/strong>. But not without a good reason!<\/p>\n<p>These last\u00a0weeks, the <strong>worldwide community of beauty addicts<\/strong> speaks only of one thing: the <strong>Lime Crime scandal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Lime Crime\" href=\"http:\/\/www.limecrime.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lime Crime<\/a>\u00a0took the makeup world by storm 6 years ago. This makeup company was created by <a title=\"Doe Deere\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/doedeereofficial\" target=\"_blank\">Doe Deere<\/a>, a self-proclaimed &#8220;Unicorn Queen&#8221;. She wanted to find a lipstick that would exist in all the shades of the rainbow, but it was hard to find in conventional cosmetic brands and that&#8217;s how Lime Crime was born!<\/p>\n<p>However, there have been so many\u00a0<strong>controversies<\/strong> in the brand&#8217;s history and the latest suggest that it will be difficult for Lime Crime to recover from it.<br \/>\nThe brand founder,\u00a0<strong>Doe Deere<\/strong> has successively been accused of fraud, embezzlement, racism, intimidation of bloggers and clients who made bad reviews of her products, repackaging bulk purchased products not made by her company to sell them as her own products, steal products from\u00a0a competitor (<a title=\"Sugarpill\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sugarpillshop.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sugarpill<\/a>) and finally to lie about the fact that their\u00a0products are not tested on animals&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The final straw,\u00a0recently, was that Deere\u00a0apparently\u00a0&#8220;forgot&#8221; to renew the security certificate\u00a0for the\u00a0online shop which left them open to\u00a0attacks and <strong>hacking<\/strong> of the site, due to\u00a0the <a title=\"Lime Crime expired SSL cert\" href=\"http:\/\/theblushcult.com\/tag\/doe-deere-scandal\/\" target=\"_blank\">expired SSL certificate<\/a>.<br \/>\nIt seems as you can read above that the bank details of customers were stolen, exposing them to identity theft or fraudulent purchases with their bank accounts.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the brand and its founder have certainly badly managed this crisis, blocking most comments referring to this story on social media, a reign of <strong>total censorship<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>So obviously, the customers&#8217;\u00a0<b class=\"b1\">co<\/b><b class=\"b2\">unte<\/b><b class=\"b3\">r-attack<\/b>\u00a0didn&#8217;t take long and there are dozens of websites, forums, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. that have emerged with various hashtags (\u00a0<a class=\"_58cn\" title=\"Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/hashtag\/limecrimelies?source=feed_text&amp;story_id=795728973846647\" target=\"_blank\" data-ft=\"{&quot;tn&quot;:&quot;*N&quot;,&quot;type&quot;:104}\"><span class=\"_58cl\">\u202a#\u200e<\/span><span class=\"_58cm\">limecrimelies<\/span><\/a>, <a title=\"Instagram\" href=\"http:\/\/ilovegram.com\/tags\/limecrimeliars\" target=\"_blank\">#limecrimeliars<\/a>, <a title=\"Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/boycottlimecrime\" target=\"_blank\">#boycottlimecrime<\/a>\u00a0etc.). On these sites, there are numerous\u00a0stories of people whose identity have been stolen, their bank accounts emptied, or who have been censored by Doe Deere. Some\u00a0<a title=\"KathleenLights\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=xtU46Cw7HAM\" target=\"_blank\">famous YouTubers<\/a> also made videos explaining why they refuse to promote the brand anymore.<\/p>\n<p>In short, the same fan base that has <strong>the power<\/strong> to help a brand to grow can also decide to <strong>bury it<\/strong> altogether if their <strong>trust is\u00a0betrayed<\/strong>.<br \/>\nAnd honestly, after all these stories, I don&#8217;t give much credit to\u00a0Lime Crime or\u00a0Doe Deere&#8230;<\/p>\n<h3>What future for the\u00a0Indie Makeup brands<em>?<\/em><\/h3>\n<div class=\"full-width\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/dubai_mall_view.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6999\" src=\"https:\/\/bonniegarner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/dubai_mall_view.jpg\" alt=\"Dubai Mall\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>In the mid to\u00a0long-term, it&#8217;s difficult to imagine that successful Indie Makeup brands like these will only be\u00a0<strong>based on an online<\/strong> development strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, for makeup customers, being able <strong>to see the colors<\/strong> and <strong>to touch the textures<\/strong> still remains the best way to discover the products.<br \/>\nTo be\u00a0more pragmatic, it&#8217;s also well known, that currently, the bulk\u00a0of makeup brands <strong>revenue<\/strong> is mainly\u00a0achieved\u00a0<strong>in (physical) stores<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Makeup Geek<\/strong> has already announced the opening of its first <strong>retail store<\/strong> in Sacramento, California for the first half of 2015 and as we have seen above, <strong>Sigma Beauty <\/strong>already has it&#8217;s own physical store.<\/p>\n<p>We can also ask ourselves if big beauty\u00a0groups won&#8217;t eventually <strong>acquire<\/strong> these very dynamic independent brands to give a <strong>new breath\u00a0of life<\/strong>\u00a0to their image. After all, it was already the case with <a title=\"Benefit\" href=\"https:\/\/www.benefitcosmetics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Benefit<\/a> \u00a0which\u00a0has helped LVMH to seriously rejuvenate its customers base.<br \/>\nWhat is certain in my opinion, is that they really should <strong>learn from their methods<\/strong>, especially their communication ones.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, in my opinion, the Indie Makeup brands have a<strong> bright future ahead<\/strong> of them and you can expect some detailed reviews of the products shown above in pictures in the coming weeks! <span class=\"wp-smiley emoji emoji-smile\" title=\":)\">smile<\/span> <\/p>\n<h5>And you, are you tempted by Indie Makeup or are you already convinced?
