Last year, the Bourjois\u00a0Rouge Edition Velvet<\/a>\u00a0won all the votes. This year, the brand has high hopes for its Rouge Edition Aqua Laque. Is it a winning\u00a0bet?<\/h2>\n

I’ll be honest, I hadn’t really planned to do\u00a0a proper review about these Rouge Edition Aqua Laque<\/strong>. I understood that there were lip lacquers, and I had already tried the concept last year<\/a> and I wasn’t a big fan… It’s clearly not a\u00a0texture I like\u00a0on my lips.<\/p>\n

But after seeing them everywhere, I ended up buying the shade App\u00eachissant (Anne, it’s totally because of you<\/a>\u00a0;) ), and Bourjois also gave me 2 shades to review for the blog: Viens Si Tu Roses and Fuchsia Perch\u00e9.
\nSo well, I think it finally deserves a little review! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

So, basically, this is a hybrid<\/strong> kind of liquid lipstick<\/strong>: half-lip lacquer, half-lip stain. It reminds me a lot the Dior Addict Fluid Stick <\/a>\u00a0which I spoke to you about last year.
\nIt has the same feeling on the lips, with a very light<\/strong>, water-based formula. You almost can’t feel it when it’s applied on the lips. And the finish is the same, a\u00a0mirror-like\u00a0shine<\/strong> effect, like wet lips.<\/p>\n

But let’s see all this in more detail:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque, my thoughts:<\/h3>\n
\"Bourjois<\/a><\/div>\n

–Innovation and texture: <\/strong>the\u00a0innovation here is of course in the high concentration of water in the formula, which is almost imperceptible once applied on the lips. It’s clearly a lip lacquer<\/strong>, with a\u00a0mirror effect on the lips but without any stickiness<\/strong> as you might\u00a0find in some classical lip gloss formulas. The pigments will also stay on the lips as a stain<\/strong>\u00a0once the shine fades. So it’s clearly a hybrid formula.
\nIt also\u00a0reminds me\u00a0of a\u00a0lip oil (like the YSL<\/a>\u00a0I talked about some time ago) especially because of the result, but the feeling on the lips is much lighter and “watery”. You can really feel the water in the formula when you apply it. It’s a very fresh feeling by the way, which is quite nice.<\/p>\n

–Application:<\/strong>\u00a0the application is done with the sponge applicator, very precise.
\nHowever, I find that the formula is not always ultra even… The pigments seem to be\u00a0floating arounf in the formula and I had to reapply the product\u00a0several times on the lips to evenly distribute the color. In addition, the product is quite slippery\u00a0on the lips, especially if you’ve applied a lip\u00a0balm before (not really a good idea here). So because I applied so many layers, I actually managed to put\u00a0some on my teeth each\u00a0time, lovely… -_-<\/p>\n

\"Bourjois<\/a><\/div>\n

–Pigmentation and coverage:\u00a0<\/strong>not bad… as long as you apply a certain amount of product! And this is not really the idea here, it’s suppose to be a natural and sheer effect. So, I would describe the pigmentation as average<\/strong>, nothing more.<\/p>\n

–Color:<\/strong>\u00a0the range includes 8 colors and quite honestly, even if they’re all very pretty, I find them very similar\u00a0to each other. Too close<\/strong>. Some are almost the same (see my pictures below with Viens Si Tu Roses and Fuchsia Perch\u00e9, they’re almost identical on me). The color range is mostly around pink and red shades. No crazy colors, the natural is strongly\u00a0represented\u00a0in this range. (and it’s a bit of a shame IMO)
\nSo I own App\u00eachissant<\/strong>, a very soft and flattering peachy nude (my favorite), Viens Si Tu Roses<\/strong>, a pinky red with a slightly cool undertone and finally Fuchsia Perch\u00e9<\/strong>, \u00a0a redy pink whit a hint of coral, so a little more warm tone<\/p>\n

– Finish and feeling on the lips:\u00a0<\/strong>the finish of the Aqua Lacque is extremely shiny, mirror-like effect. The formula is really super nice to wear, it’s very light<\/strong>. I wouldn’t say that they’re moisturizing, but they don’t dry the lips out<\/strong>\u00a0at all. A good point: they have a little “plumping<\/strong>” effect on the lips. If the lips have a lot of dry patches, they won’t highlight it and will likely\u00a0give the illusion of full<\/strong>, moisturized lips.<\/p>\n

–Lasting Power: <\/strong>the big, fat issue with these Aqua Laque. Once applied, their pretty shiny mirror-like effect will literally evaporate in less than half an hour. (Bourjois has taken the concept of the “light as water” lipstick too far for once lol)
\nSo yes, it leaves beautifully tinted lips but hey, I don’t know, it’s called Aqua Lacque, not Aqua Stain!!! I confess that for me, it’s very frustrating and it’s kind of a deal breaker<\/strong>. Specifically, it doesn’t bother me too much to have to reapply my lipstick one or two times\u00a0during the day but honestly, if I have to do it\u00a0every half hour, no way<\/strong>!
\nAnd really, it’s frustrating because I love the shiny effect and the color (especially App\u00eachissant)… It’s a pity not to be able to enjoy it more!<\/p>\n

–Odeur:\u00a0<\/strong>a light fruity scent, very pleasant. Anyway, much nicer than the Rouge Edition Velvet<\/a>\u00a0which really\u00a0smelt too much\u00a0like paint… uneasy<\/span> <\/p>\n

–Packaging:<\/strong>\u00a0the packaging is the same as the Rouge Edition Velvet<\/a>, a colorful plastic vial, but this time, the cap has a metallic chrome effect. It’s very nice, and I even felt it\u00a0looked\u00a0quite high-end<\/strong>.
\nThe names are absolutely adorable if you’re able to understand French because sadly, it’s totally untranslatable! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

–Prix: <\/strong>I find them too expensive for their lasting power<\/strong>, clearly. I don’t mind paying $15 for a good lipstick but really, it’s a little bit too expensive for 30 minutes of nice lips, IMO…<\/p>\n
