I need to confess something: sometimes I’m really ashamed of being a beauty addict<\/a>.<\/h2>\n

To give you a very specific example:<\/p>\n

– when I put an alarm at 3 am<\/strong> to not miss the beginning of the sale of the new ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip liquid\u00a0lipsticks on their website (and I’m just starting here, wait for the rest lol)
\n– when I realize that I really don’t understand anything about US time zones (What is bloody Pacific\u00a0time zone?) (especially at 3 am, no clue)
\n– when I realize that I’m late for this f ******g sale on the ColourPop website because they decide to make an early start (NOOOOO!!!),
\n– when the situation gets\u00a0out of control because all the beauty addicts in\u00a0the US, Canada, Australia and God knows where are clicking like crazy chicks (= exactly like me actually) trying to refresh the page because the ColourPop site crashed<\/strong>\u00a0due to the number of visitors \/ orders,
\n– WE BROKE THE INTERNET, GIRLS!!! (nothing to be proud of, calm down, ColourPop just weren’t prepared enough with their website, that’s it),
\n– when I decide to convince my poor husband who is just back from a long business trip in the middle of the night to help me to place this damn order (#wifeoftheyearaward)
\n– when I finally surrender after two hours of trying for nothing (F***k it, it’s just lipsticks anyway) (I’m not like those freaks who line up for hours for the last iPhone, ah aha ha) (OK I GUESS YES, I AM),
\n– when my husband is still on it because he never surrenders\u00a0(he’s British, I’m French, nothing surprising then) (The French always surrender<\/em>) (I strongly deny by the way) (OK, this story is not helping at all, I know),
\n– when he finally managed to place this bloody order for me<\/strong> (#husbandoftheyearaward) (for real)
\n– when I’m so happy that you’d think I actually won this award (and I’m a little ashamed at the same time) (but I’m so happy) (but I’m a little ashamed) (but I…) !<\/p>\n

ColourPop created\u00a0an incredible buzz<\/strong> about the launch of these famous Ultra Matte Lip<\/a>. They were everywhere<\/strong> on Instagram, YouTube or Snapchat (some bloggers had received them in advance).<\/p>\n

Why such a buzz?
\nMatte liquid lipsticks are THE big trend at\u00a0the moment in makeup. It’s simple, every brand has its own version (or will do soon, expect a wave\/flood of liquid lipsticks everywhere in September), but ColourPop sell\u00a0them for a very cheap price: $6<\/strong>.
\nAnd they have\u00a0a choice of 25 amazing and trendy<\/strong> colors. So it was very simple: everyone wanted them!<\/p>\n

They were out of stock in a few hours<\/strong>. They are now available<\/strong> on ColourPop<\/a> website but for how long? wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip liquid lipsticks, presentation:<\/h3>\n
\"ColourPop<\/a><\/div>\n

These are liquid lipsticks<\/strong> with an ultra matte finish<\/strong>, probably the most matte lipsticks\u00a0I own!<\/p>\n

The brand describes a very light-weight formula, totally matte, velvet looking. There are 25 highly pigmented and opaque shades, very long lasting and completely kiss-proof.<\/p>\n

Let’s see that in more details! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

\"ColourPop<\/a><\/div>\n

–\u00a0Packaging:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The packaging is a plastic bottle with a metallic cap. I had read reviews that said that it was leaking but I didn’t have any\u00a0problems with mine.
\nI find it rather sleek and elegant<\/strong>, it doesn’t look cheap at all.<\/p>\n

Next to a Anastasia Beverly Hills<\/a>\u00a0liquid lipstick ($20), it looks quite similar! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

–\u00a0Innovation and formula:<\/strong><\/p>\n

I’m not sure you can talk about innovation here because this kind of formula is rather trendy at the moment, they are everywhere. And this formula is nothing different from the other ones.
\nIt’s a very liquid texture<\/strong>, not “moussy” like some (in the style of the Rouge Edition Velvet by Bourjois<\/a> for example).<\/p>\n

– Perfume:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The scent is so light<\/strong> you can barely notice it.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Application:<\/strong><\/p>\n

I was pleasantly surprised by the applicator<\/strong> that allows a rather precise application. However, the formula dries super quickly<\/strong>.\u00a0You have to be quick!
\nSomething else, make sure you have clean and dry lips<\/strong> (you can also scrub them) before applying this liquid lipstick! If there is the slightest trace of oil, the product won’t adhere well. You can apply a lip primer<\/strong> and it will smoothen your lips for a better application.<\/p>\n

But honestly, it’s not the quickest lipstick to apply<\/strong> in the world, be warned…<\/p>\n

My method \u00a0of application:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

– generally, I do the lower lip first, then I just dip the applicator a second time in my bottle to apply it on the upper lip,
\n– I try not to forget any spot during my application because once the product is dry (and it’s pretty fast), it’s almost impossible to add some more without making the product crumble, so the application has to be done in one single layer<\/strong>,
\n– I try to avoid applying the product with back and forth gestures so that it doesn’t move\u00a0on the lips,
\n– I stretch my lips<\/strong> before the product is dry to be sure I have applied it everywhere (and it won’t crack when it’s dry),
\n– I’m careful not to put too much in the middle of the lips because\u00a0otherwise I find it everywhere on my teeth!!<\/p>\n

The brand advises to use first a lip pencil and I agree, especially if you want a sharp contour\u00a0with the darkest or brightest colors.
\nThere aren’t (yet) ColourPop lip pencils to match this range of Ultra Matte Lips lipsticks, but there are a lot in the existing range of Lippie Pencils<\/a> that can be used with those, I guess. wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

If you want to touch up<\/strong> during the day, it’s a bit tricky because these lipsticks don’t layer very well<\/strong>. I usually try to add more product on the area where there is no lipstick any more, to have a more homogeneous result.<\/p>\n

\"ColourPop<\/a>\"ColourPop<\/a><\/div>\n

–\u00a0Pigmentation and coverage:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The pigmentation<\/strong> of these is generally very good<\/strong> but about the coverage<\/strong>, even if I’m satisfied with most of the colors I chose, some have disappointed me a lot.
\nSucculent <\/strong>and Lychee<\/strong> (to a lesser extent) don’t apply evenly on my lips. They’re quite patchy<\/strong>. Such a shame! sad<\/span> <\/p>\n

– Finish and feeling on the lips:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The finish is completely matte<\/strong>, like velvety lips and it’s really pretty, especially with the bright colors (and more wearable). It’s also no-transfer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

However, the feeling on the lips is the big downside of these products: they are extremely drying<\/strong>! Not comfortable at all.
\nAnd for those who tend to have rather dry lips like me, it’s a problem… If I wear it for an evening, for just a few hours, it’s OK but for one entire day, after a few hours, I want to jump on my lip balm!<\/p>\n

One piece of advice if like me, you have dry lips:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

You can apply a lip primer<\/strong> before applying your Ultra Matte Lip. The application will be easier but it also keeps the moisture of your lips. It won’t transform these lipsticks in the world’s most comfortable lipsticks to wear, but it’s much better<\/strong>!
\nColourPop retails one\u00a0such lip primer<\/a> for $5. I really recommend adding it to\u00a0your order! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

– Lasting power:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The lasting power is pretty good<\/strong> although after a meal, a little touch up is required in the middle of the lips.
\nAlso, it’s not the kind of formula that erases itself super nicely on the lips. After 6-7 hours<\/strong> (which is not bad at all), the finish on the lips is much less perfect and\u00a0even if you can still see the color\u00a0of course, the matte “film” covering the lips has small holes and crumbles a little…<\/p>\n

I definitely won’t choose this lipstick for a long day.<\/p>\n

–Price:<\/strong><\/p>\n

$6 my friends, so at this price, you want to forgive its little flaws! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip liquid lipsticks,\u00a0the shades:<\/h3>\n

With\u00a025 shades<\/strong>, the choice is super large!<\/p>\n

I chose 8 shades:\u00a0Trap, Bumble, Tulle, Avenue, Succulent, Creeper, Mars, and Lychee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The first 4 are more neutral<\/strong> (and for 3 of them quite dark also) and the other 4 are bright<\/strong> colors.<\/p>\n

\"ColourPop<\/a>\"ColourPop<\/a><\/div>\n

Trap<\/a>: <\/strong>I guess that this color won’t be everybody’s favorite but I wanted a pink beigy taupe<\/strong> like this for a long time and I didn’t want to spend a fortune on\u00a0it. I know it won’t be the color I’ll wear the most but I quite like it! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

Bumble<\/a>: <\/strong>I wasn\u2019t lucky with this color, it doesn\u2019t suit me at all. It’s a reddish rusty brown<\/strong> and I really don’t like this\u00a0orange tone on me. I think it really clashes with my skin tone… #fail sad<\/span> <\/p>\n

Tulle<\/a>: <\/strong>a beautiful burgundy with a slight hint of brown<\/strong>. It will be perfect for this fall and winter!<\/p>\n

Avenue<\/a>:\u00a0<\/strong>a very intense warm dark red<\/strong>, very flattering for my complexion (I’m not a fan of purple dark red on me but this kind of warm dark red is perfect!). Same thing, it’s more an “autumn-winter” color, I think. But it’s still beautiful.<\/p>\n

\"ColourPop<\/a>\"ColourPop<\/a><\/div>\n

Succulent<\/a>:\u00a0<\/strong>what a disappointment! I’m super fan of the color, a sublime neon orange\u00a0red<\/strong> but I couldn’t achieve a smooth result\u00a0when I applied it on my lips! Such a shame ..<\/p>\n

Creeper<\/a>: <\/b>superb! A sublime\u00a0bright red, with a slightly cold undertone<\/strong>. No surprises with this one, I know it’s a color that suits me. wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

Mars<\/a>:\u00a0<\/strong>a perfect color for summer! This is a neon\u00a0red fuchsia<\/strong>, not too blue. If you like super bright colors, you will love this one! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

Lychee<\/a>: <\/strong>I’m not certain to wear this color every day but for those days when I feel like experimenting, it’ll be perfect! This is a vivid purple pink<\/strong> and I love it on its own, with just a little\u00a0bit of\u00a0mascara and that’s it! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n
