I was in eyeshadow palette rehab\u00a0for several months (I swear, it’s true!). But when I saw the\u00a0Anastasia Beverly Hills Shadow Couture World Traveler<\/a>\u00a0palette, I just had to get it!<\/h2>\n

In my defense, it’s quite hard to resist a palette so well made.<\/p>\n

It’s not just another neutral eyeshadow\u00a0palette.
\nSome neutral colors are included, yes, but also some more unusual shades\u00a0that\u00a0are still very wearable\u00a0(it’s always complicated to find a balanced eyeshadow\u00a0palette which\u00a0isn’t super\u00a0boring or at\u00a0the contrary, just impossible to wear because of the crazy colors).
\nThe Anastasia Beverly Hills palette\u00a0contains different finishes of eyeshadows: matte, satin, iridescent, metallic, shimmery… There’s something for everyone!
\n12 eyeshadows+ 1 makeup\u00a0brush (which is great, for once), all that for $30, honestly, it’s a great\u00a0price.<\/p>\n

In short, you guessed it, it had everything to make me desire enough to get me out of rehab for\u00a0it…<\/p>\n

Before introducing this palette, I would first like to tell you a bit more about the Anastasia Beverly Hills brand. This is a relatively new brand, but something tells me you’ll hear a lot about it in the coming months.
\nHere in Dubai, the brand just arrived in Sephora<\/strong>. Sadly, it’s just brow and contouring stuff for now but fingers crossed, the rest of the range will be available very soon!<\/p>\n

Anastasia Beverly Hills, history of the brand:<\/h3>\n
\"Anastasia<\/a><\/div>\n

Anastasia Beverly Hills<\/strong>\u00a0is an American brand created by\u00a0 Anastasia Soare<\/strong>, known to be nothing less than the Queen of brows in the US.<\/p>\n

Very young and just having arrived from Romania, not\u00a0speaking a word of English, she began working in a prestigious beauty\u00a0salon in Beverly Hills. Her first client was\u00a0Cindy Crawford<\/strong>. Then followed the whole team\u00a0of top models superstars of the time, Naomi Campbell and the others…<\/p>\n

Anastasia, who studied art and architecture in Romania thinks that beauty is above all a matter of proportion<\/strong> and she decided to focus on the eyebrows of her clients. With her boss not seeing things the same way, she decided to quit the pretty\u00a0beauty salon of Beverly Hills and opened her own salon, dedicated to the beauty of eyebrows.
\nAt the time, the trend was not really into\u00a0eyebrows. Nobody cared really. But Anastasia was on a mission\u00a0and she worked relentlessly,\u00a07 days\u00a0a week\u00a0to develop\u00a0her business.<\/p>\n

Shortly after, in 1994, a Vogue<\/strong> article mentions\u00a0Anastasia and her beauty salon. In the same issue, there was also a review on the cult Kevin Aucoin makeup book, Making Faces<\/a> where he explained among other things the importance of eyebrows in facial structure. With this media coverage, her business\u00a0explodes and Anastasia conquers a new celebrity client\u00e8le. In 2006, she made an appearance\u00a0in television\u00a0during Oprah Winfrey<\/a>‘s show. From this moment onwards, she became the Queen of brows<\/strong> for everyone in the US .<\/p>\n

In 2012, while the trend for very strong\u00a0eyebrows \u00e0 la<\/em> Cara Delevigne was everywhere, she launched Anastasia Beverly Hills<\/a><\/strong>, her range of makeup products dedicated to the eyebrows that is sold at Sephora and Nordstrom among others shops in the United States.
\nIt’s a huge success\u00a0and products such as the\u00a0Brow Wizz<\/a>\u00a0 and the\u00a0Dipbrow Pommade<\/a> sell like hotcakes.
\nIn 2014, assisted by her daughter Norvina Sun<\/a>, she extended her product range with some contouring powders, as well as eyeshadows, liquid lipsticks, highlighters…
\nBut also eyeshadow palettes that are limited editions in order to remain super trendy! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

The\u00a0Shadow Couture World Traveller<\/a> is the last eyeshadow palette\u00a0of the brand.<\/p>\n

What the brand says about it:<\/p>\n

\nTwelve shades\u2014ranging from a neutral peach to a vibrant blue\u2014deliver smooth, intense color, so you can create an endless array of custom looks.
\nFinishes include matte, satin, and metallic. Formulas can be applied wet or dry. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

For me, it’s really a perfect palette for the transition of Summer to Fall<\/strong>\u00a0(which here in Dubai takes quite a\u00a0bit of\u00a0time lol).
\nIt was ideal for my summer looks with all the bright\u00a0colors but I will also love it\u00a0this Fall because many shades are perfect for my ‘warm colours’ craving. I also see myself using it a lot for warm and intense winter makeup looks.<\/p>\n

Anastasia Beverly Hills Shadow Couture World Traveler eyeshadow palette, my test and thoughts:<\/h3>\n

– Packaging:<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is a black and old gold cardboard box and rather elegant<\/strong>. It contains a mirror<\/strong>, always handy and a double-ended brush<\/strong> that is quite\u00a0good.<\/p>\n

– Ease of use:<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s a palette rather thin and easy to carry<\/strong> (not too heavy). And the fact that there is a mirror and a brush inside\u00a0makes it a very weekend or holiday-friendly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

– Color choice and versatility:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The choice of colors is clearly with\u00a0makeup addicts in mind. Indeed, some colors are very bright<\/strong>\u00a0and I confess\u00a0one of\u00a0the reasons it caught my eye. But there are enough \u00a0neutral colors to make it a wearable palette<\/strong>.
\nThe variety of finishes allows\u00a0a lot of different makeup looks<\/strong>, from the most natural to the most intense, very neutral or super colourful, matte or super\u00a0shimmery, so many choices!<\/p>\n

– Overall quality of the eyeshadows:<\/strong><\/p>\n

What is so nice about\u00a0ABH (Anastasia Beverly Hills) eyeshadow palettes, is that it helps to get an idea of \u200b\u200bthe quality of the brand’s single eyeshadows (sold separately $12 each) (ouch).
\nIn the palette, you have matte, iridescent,\u00a0shimmery, “Titanium” (ultra iridescent metallic) finishes. A good range of the different ABH eyeshadows finishes.<\/p>\n

I find the overall quality of the eyeshadows\u00a0rather good<\/strong>: good texture, nice pigmentation, easy to blend…
\nOnly two of them were a little disappointing: Spoiled<\/strong> and Heirloom<\/strong> which are both glittery. Their pigmentation is not as good as\u00a0other eyeshadows and there is\u00a0a fair amount of fall out… You can still make them work\u00a0but you have to layer them a lot\u00a0to have some coverage and you also need to clean the glitter after. uneasy<\/span> <\/p>\n

– Value for money:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The value for money\u00a0is pretty good<\/strong>, especially considering the price of the single\u00a0ABH\u00a0eyeshadows \u00a0($12 each and the palette is sold $30<\/strong>).
\nI was afraid that the quality of the eyeshadows in the palette\u00a0was not like\u00a0the pans, but they’re great\u00a0(yes, I have some ABH pans that I love) (yes, I will do you a blog post about them soon wink<\/span> ).<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Availability:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The easiest way is still to go through the Anastasia Beverly Hills<\/a>\u00a0website directly (they ship internationally).
\nFingers crossed, Sephora will\u00a0soon distribute the entire range! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

Anastasia Beverly Hills Shadow Couture World Traveler eyeshadow palette, the colors:<\/h3>\n
\"Anastasia<\/a><\/div>\n

– Soft Peach:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>A very light peach<\/strong> shade. I use it mainly to apply in the crease\u00a0because it is slightly\u00a0too dark to be applied as my base all over the lid. If you have a medium\u00a0skin, it should work perfectly as a base color in my opinion. It’s very luminous\u00a0and it has a matte finish<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

– Morocco:\u00a0<\/strong>one of my favorite in the palette. This is an rusty orange shade, beautiful and which can warm any makeup look. Ultra intense, I use it both in the crese and\u00a0on the entire eyelid or in the outer V. It’s really beautiful! It’s also a matte finish<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

– Heirloom:\u00a0<\/strong>this one\u00a0gave me a headache. This is a very dark eggplant with pink glitter<\/strong>. Its texture is quite hard and chalky and you really have to apply a lot to get\u00a0good coverage. It’s a little too dusty for\u00a0my taste and it tends to fall out as well. You can still make it work, but it will take some time…<\/p>\n

– Bellini:\u00a0<\/strong>a very pretty golden peach<\/strong>, with quite warm undertones. It’s creamy and highly pigmented and it has a shimmery\u00a0finish<\/strong>. A simple but very effective shade! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

– Pink Champagne:<\/strong>\u00a0a gem, to me it’s the star of the palette. This is an ultra shimmery and metallic<\/strong>\u00a0pinky beige<\/strong>, super luminous. It has a Titanium finish;\u00a0in ABH, it’s their\u00a0“diamond” finish. It sophisticates any makeup. I almost want to buy the single\u00a0version because I love it so much! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

– Chic:\u00a0<\/strong>a very light\u00a0old gold<\/strong> shade, with a metallic shimmery\u00a0finish<\/strong>. It’s very pretty, luminous and the pigmentation is great. I use it a lot as a highlighter from the inner corner of my eye.<\/p>\n

– Spoiled:\u00a0<\/strong>I was quite disappointed in\u00a0this shade.\u00a0Like Bellini, it’s also a light golden peach<\/strong>\u00a0but it has a glittery finish<\/strong> (with gold glitter). First, I find it a waste to add a shade which is so close to\u00a0another one in the palette\u00a0and also, the pigmentation is so-so. Plus it has quite\u00a0a lot of\u00a0fall out. I\u00a0don’t really see the point with this eyeshadow… uneasy<\/span> <\/p>\n

– Fudge:\u00a0<\/strong>a stunning warm chocolate brown<\/strong> shade in a matte finish<\/strong>. I use it a lot. Like Morocco, I love it!<\/p>\n

– Azure:<\/strong>\u00a0a beautiful cobalt blue<\/strong> with a shimmery\u00a0finish<\/strong>. The pigmentation is perfect and it blends\u00a0beautifully. Associated with Morocco and\/or Fudge in the crease, it will make a gorgeous blue smoky\u00a0eyes! wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

– Intense Gaze:\u00a0<\/strong>a beautiful bronzy pink<\/strong>, with an hint of\u00a0dark orange<\/strong> but super luminous. It has a shimmery finish and it’s super creamy and intense. I use it over the entire eyelid, on the outter V, along the lower eyelash line, everywhere really…<\/p>\n

– Metallic: <\/strong>a beautiful pure yellow gold<\/strong>, with a metallic finish<\/strong>. It also has super pigmentation and blends\u00a0very easily.<\/p>\n

– Noir:<\/strong>\u00a0an\u00a0ultra pigmented matte black eyeshadow that I love using as a\u00a0liner (dry or wet, its super intense).<\/p>\n

For this very warm\u00a0look, I used Soft Peach<\/strong> and Morocco<\/strong> in the crease, Intense Gaze in the outer corner and along the lower lash line. I used\u00a0Spoiled<\/strong> with Bellini<\/strong> on the top on my eyelid and a little bit of Chic<\/strong>\u00a0in the inner corner. I finally applied\u00a0Noir<\/strong>\u00a0as an eyeliner along the lash line.
\nMy lipstick here is MAC Teddy Velvet<\/a>\u00a0with a little bit of the lipgloss Chelsea Girls by NARS<\/a> (#obsessed).<\/p>\n

– Look 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n

For this one, which is clearly more dramatic, I applied Soft Peach<\/strong> all over the lid, Morocco<\/strong> in the crease, Fudge<\/strong>\u00a0in the outer corner and along the lower lash line. I made lots of layers with Heirloom<\/strong>\u00a0on the outer half of my eyelid to achieve a good result (-_-). Then I applied the stunning\u00a0Pink Champagne<\/strong> on the inside and the center\u00a0of my eyelid (and everything took shape!!!). A little bit of Chic<\/strong> in the inner corner of the eye, Noir<\/strong> used as an eyeliner, tons of mascara, and boom! Ready for the party! wink<\/span>
\nMy lipstick here is the Clinique Nude Pop<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I’m quite impressed with the overall quality of this palette. The eyeshadows are really well selected\u00a0and their quality is almost perfect. For the price, it’s really a very nice selection of colors and you can do\u00a0lots of pretty and unique makeup looks.<\/p>\n
