Hourglass<\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0releasing new highlighter powders? I’m in! Especially if they’re “strobing” kind of highlighters, my new obsession. I\u00a0just had to try\u00a0these Hourglass Ambient Lighting Strobe Powders!<\/h2>\n

I’m a\u00a0Hourglass Ambient Lighting<\/a>\u00a0fan (the powders and blushes). They really illuminate the complexion without being heavy, in a very natural and subtle way. I already spoke of\u00a0the\u00a0blushes when I reviewed the Ambient Lighting Blush palette <\/a>and they’re still a favorite.<\/p>\n

The existing powders of the range (the Ambient Lighting Powders<\/a>) are more kind of finishing powders. They can be applied all over the face for a sheer and luminous veil of powder. They have a soft-focus effect that blurs the irregularities of the skin.
\nThe Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders<\/a>\u00a0however,\u00a0are real\u00a0highlighters<\/strong>. You\u00a0apply them locally on the face\u00a0for\u00a0a highlighting effect.<\/p>\n

They exist in 4 shades<\/strong>: Incandescent, Brilliant, Euphoric and Iridescent (which I don’t have).<\/p>\n

What is strobing? (reminder)<\/i><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Strobing<\/strong>, which comes from the term \"strobe\" (like the strobe light) is a makeup technique that is enhancing the luminous parts of the face<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

No need to sculpt the face and play with shadow and light like contouring. You just need to apply the highlighter (1 or more different textures to accentuate the effect, ex: a liquid one first and then a powder on top of it) to highlight the areas where the face generally catches more light: the cheekbones, the T-zone, below the eyebrows, the cupid bow<\/strong>...<\/p>\n

If you want to apply some bronzer<\/a> to give a little warmth to your complexion, it's totally possible but just avoid applying it in a sculpting way, like with contouring. The idea here is to slightly warm the complexion to let the highlighted areas be the \"star of the show\". You don't want intense contouring with intense highlighting, let's say there is a risk of it being just too much.
\nIn short, it's the ideal technique to obtain a radiant face with just a touch of shine.<\/p>\n

For an oily skin<\/strong>, simply avoid applying the highlighter in the middle of your face<\/strong> (forehead, bridge of the nose and chin tip) so as not to accentuate the shine which is already naturally there.<\/p>\n

For this technique, I usually use a brush that takes a little more product (like the ZOEVA 114\u00a0brush<\/a>) or even my wet Beauty Blender<\/a>\u00a0if I want more intensity, and I apply it:
\n- on top of my cheekbones,
\n- above the arch of my eyebrows,
\n- on the cupid bow of my lips,
\n- at the inner corner of my eyes.<\/p>\n

And on days I really want to \"shine bright like a diamond\", I even apply it on the top of my shoulders and my d\u00e9collet\u00e9.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The concept of these highlighters is\u00a0a versatile<\/strong>\u00a0effect with an application wet or dry<\/strong>\u00a0of the product. When you apply it dry, the effect is more natural. Wet, it gives\u00a0more coverage and\u00a0more intensity.
\nIn both cases, I still found them much less intense than my Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector<\/a> for example. With the term “strobing” in the product name, I was expecting a super intense highlighting effect, the kind you might see from\u00a0space (you know those raving comments on YouTube lol). But it’s a\u00a0strobing effect according to the Hourglass brand, so with them, it’s\u00a0always subtle and chic<\/strong>. And in fact, I don’t dislike it. These Ambient Lighting Strobe Powders give my skin\u00a0a nice and discreet but still present glow.
\nBut I admit that the term “strobing” can be misleading<\/strong> and it’s a bit of a shame.<\/p>\n

Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders, my test and thoughts:<\/h3>\n

– Formula:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The formula is very similar to\u00a0the other Hourglass powders, the Ambient Lighting Powders<\/a>: a very fine and delicate<\/strong> powder.
\nThey’re not as creamy\u00a0as\u00a0other highlighters with a\u00a0more “thick” and heavy texture. But they’re still very easy to blend<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

– Packaging:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The packaging is the same as the\u00a0Ambient Lighting Blushes<\/a> in their solo size. They’re\u00a0smaller than the Ambient Lighting Powders (4.5 g against 10g) (but we aren’t going to put them all over our face like the Ambient Lighting Powders<\/a>\u00a0, so I guess it seems more logical wink<\/span> ).
\nThis is a plastic case<\/strong>, but it comes with a\u00a0very chic metallic coating<\/strong>, in a silver color. It contains a mirror<\/strong> inside.<\/p>\n

– Finish:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I confess that the first time I opened them, I kinda freaked out because I found the 3 colors very glittery\u00a0and I’m not really a fan of glittery highlighters.
\nHowever, once applied on the skin, especially when you apply them wet, the glittery effect is extremely subtle and the finish is more of a pearlized iridescent sheen<\/strong>. They are all very luminous<\/strong>\u00a0on the skin and very subtle and elegant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
