If like me, you follow the cosmetics and beauty news through the social media of bloggers, there is no way\u00a0you\u00a0missed the big launch of the year: the new range of\u00a0Urban Decay Vice lipsticks<\/a>, and their “Lipstick is my vice”\u00a0campaign.<\/h2>\n

Last May, Urban Decay invited\u00a0100 beauty “influencers<\/a>” to New York to do a photo shoot for a kind of calendar where each of these “influencers” was asked to represent a shade of Vice lipstick. And each of them also received a huge box containing all the new 100 Urban Decay Vice lipsticks.<\/p>\n

Yes, there are 100 different shades of Vice lipsticks (120 in the US)! Not every shade is a new one\u00a0because Urban Decay has kept 40 references from the previous range, the Revolution lipsticks. However, these existing colors\u00a0have been reformulated. The brand has also\u00a0added new finishes and 60 new colors. Such a wide range, isn’t it?<\/p>\n

I must admit that the huge\u00a0hype around\u00a0this big\u00a0Vice lipsticks launch annoyed me somewhat. Indeed, a lot\u00a0of these “influencers” talked more about the New York event itself than the\u00a0lipsticks. And to be honest, as a result it made me rather suspicious about the quality of the product.<\/p>\n

However, when the Vice lipsticks were\u00a0finally released, the reviews from the bloggers I usually trust\u00a0started to pop up and they were rather positive overall.<\/p>\n

So I decided to buy 3 shades:\u00a0Sheer Liar<\/strong>, Backtalk<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Tryst,<\/strong>\u00a0and honestly, I don’t regret it! smile<\/span> <\/p>\n

What the brand says about them:<\/p>\n

In this new range, there are\u00a06\u00a0different\u00a0finishes<\/strong>:
\n–\u00a0Cream<\/strong>: a\u00a0creamy finish that matches the original formula of Revolution lipsticks,
\n– Comfort Matte<\/strong>: a\u00a0comfortable creamy matte finish,the same as the Matte Revolution lipsticks,
\n– Sheer<\/strong>: a shiny\u00a0semi-transparent finish, same as\u00a0the Revolution Sheer lipsticks,
\n– Mega Matte<\/strong>: a new ultra matte finish,
\n– Metallized<\/strong>:\u00a0a new creamy metallic finish,
\n– Sheer Shimmer<\/strong>: a new sheer shimmery finish.<\/p>\n

Although I never spoke of them on my blog, I was a big fan of the original Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks but I never tried\u00a0the Matte and the Sheer version. So most of these finishes are new to me.<\/p>\n

About the formula: Urban Decay wanted to add some\u00a0comfort and hydration<\/strong> with Aloe Vera, avocado oil, Babassu oil, Illipe butter and also some antioxidant<\/strong> vitamins E and C.<\/p>\n

A nice thing too is that Urban Decay has dropped the price of its lipsticks. The Revolution lipsticks were\u00a0$22, and the Vice lipsticks are $17<\/strong>. In case you’re wondering, I looked at the amount of lipstick in the Vice lipsticks compared to the\u00a0Revolution lipsticks and the\u00a0Vice lipsticks are a little bit more generous in weight than the Revolution lipsticks, so\u00a0it\u00a0means you have a little bit more\u00a0product in the tube<\/strong>! #winning wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

Urban Decay Vice lipsticks, my test and thoughts:<\/h3>\n

–\u00a0Packaging:\u00a0<\/strong>I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan<\/strong>. It feels cheaper\u00a0than the old packaging, which is quite odd, usually\u00a0you change something to improve it, don’t you? It’s a gun metal and golden metallic plastic tube, which when it’s open\u00a0looks\u00a0like a gun bullet (which I find being a rather questionable taste for that matter). It feels\u00a0lighter than the old packaging, and for me,\u00a0it also feels far less like a luxury item. It’s also quite hard to open, and on one of them, I even have to force quite hard to open it.
\nHowever, I quite like the fact that the lipstick is embossed with the\u00a0brand’s initials, it’s a very nice touch and at the bottom of the tube, there’s a colorful patch which is the\u00a0same color (well, almost) as\u00a0the lipstick. Since I organize\u00a0my lipsticks head down, it makes it easier for me to find them.<\/p>\n

– Texture and feeling on the lips:\u00a0<\/strong>I have not tested all the finishes, only 3 of them (Sheer, Cream and Comfort Matte) and I find all 3 very creamy<\/strong> and super comfortable<\/strong>. They are quite lightweight, you can barely feel them on the lips, which is very nice but the lips feel\u00a0still protected long after you applied your\u00a0lipstick.<\/p>\n

– Finish:\u00a0<\/strong>the\u00a0Sheer finish is quite shiny, the\u00a0Cream is a satin finish\u00a0<\/strong>and the\u00a0Comfort Matte\u00a0is a luminous matte<\/strong> (not really a 100% matte but it’s OK, I like this type of finish because it’s often more comfortable and it doesn’t emphasize my\u00a0lip\u00a0wrinkles).<\/p>\n

– Perfume: no perfume<\/strong>\u00a0at all in this formula. It’s a bit of a shame, I like scented lipsticks… sad<\/span> <\/p>\n

\"Urban<\/a>\"Urban<\/a><\/div>\n

– Pigmentation:\u00a0<\/strong>excellent, and opaque in one swipe<\/strong>. The colors I own apply very\u00a0evenly<\/strong> on the lips. I was actually very surprised because\u00a0Sheer Liar is clearly not as transparent as I would have thought, which is a nice surprise!\u00a0;)<\/p>\n

\u00a0– Color range:<\/strong>\u00a0the colors are really nice\u00a0and there is something for everyone: neutral, light, dark, bright or more unique\u00a0colors… Urban Decay is quite famous for its colours, so there is a wide shade selection! With 100 different colors<\/strong>, there is plenty to do, clearly!<\/p>\n

– Lasting power:<\/strong>\u00a0they last\u00a0between 4 and 6 hours on me depending on the\u00a0finish (the Sheer is less long-lasting, and the Comfort Matte lasts longer). I have to touch up my lips in\u00a0the center after a meal but other than that, nothing to declare.<\/p>\n

– Value for money: it’s great<\/strong>!<\/b>\u00a0They retail for $17 which is a bargain for a formula with this quality!<\/p>\n

– Sheer Liar:\u00a0<\/strong>my favorite! I know, this color is not original or bold, it doesn’t look like much in the tube but it’s just a very nice shade\u00a0and above all, it goes with all my eye makeup! wink<\/span> It’s\u00a0a nude peachy pink with a semi-transparent, almost glossy finish<\/strong> and it gives volume to my lips. This shade is not new, it was already part of the Sheer Revolution lipstick range.<\/p>\n

\"Urban<\/a><\/div>\n

– Backtalk:\u00a0<\/strong>a\u00a0beautiful neutral pinky mauve with cool undertones<\/strong>. I love using this kind of shade\u00a0with a warm eye makeup, it helps to balance the finish result. It’s a\u00a0Comfort Matte, so it’s a luminous matte finish<\/strong>.\u00a0This shade is not new either, it was part of the Matte\u00a0Revolution lipstick range.<\/p>\n

\"Urban<\/a><\/div>\n

– Tryst: <\/strong>a pretty summery color. It’s an almost\u00a0neon coral red<\/strong>, the kind of color that immediately brightens\u00a0the face and is\u00a0perfect with a little bit of a tan! It’s a Cream finish, so quite\u00a0satin<\/strong> but it\u00a0doesn’t contain shimmer, it’s a pure color. This one is a new color<\/strong>, exclusive to the Vice lipstick range!<\/p>\n

I’m gonna need other shades… Because\u00a0I was a little suspicious at first, I only\u00a0ordered three (!). But I really want to try other colors and finishes. I’m quite intrigued by the\u00a0Metallized finish. I’m contemplating writing a part 2 to talk about\u00a0other colors, would you like that? smile<\/span> <\/p>\n
