Lanc\u00f4me expands its\u00a0Grandi\u00f4se range. After the\u00a0mascara<\/a>\u00a0I talked about here a while ago, enters now\u00a0the\u00a0Grandi\u00f4se Liner<\/a>.<\/h2>\n

This\u00a0liner was created by the new Lanc\u00f4me makeup creative\u00a0director and famous makeup artist Lisa Eldridge<\/a>. Hired\u00a0to give a facelift to the brand, she definitely brings a more playful<\/strong> and also more artistic<\/strong> vision to the brand make-up, which I definitely like! (I must confess that Lanc\u00f4me isn’t usually a brand I’m very curious about\u00a0;) )<\/p>\n

The Grandi\u00f4se mascara<\/a>, first product in this range, was different from a typical mascara when it launched due to its curved wand,\u00a0which allows an application of the mascara very close to the lashes. The Grandi\u00f4se Liner keeps\u00a0this idea with a flexible\/ bendable\u00a0wand, which gives an angle in order to facilitate the application of the liner.<\/p>\n

I’m a big fan of eyeliners<\/strong> and have been for ages. About 2 or 3 years ago, it was even my signature makeup look<\/a> (a black liner combined with a red lips). However, I always preferred to use a gel liner applied with a brush. I think it’s much easier to apply than a liquid liner. Well, clearly, it totally depends because a lot of people swear by\u00a0liquid liner.
\nPerhaps it also depends on the shape of your\u00a0eyes. I have slightly droopy eyes, so I usually don’t apply my\u00a0liner in the inner corner\u00a0of my eyes because I feel it weighs down my eyes otherwise. And my wing\u00a0is always\u00a0quite\u00a0dramatic, because I like it like that.
\nThe brush that I use with my gel is generally a very fine angled brush<\/strong> (I love the Zoeva 312 detail liner<\/a>). With this brush, I can do a very fine wing\u00a0or a thicker one because it’s so fine and it has an angled shape so\u00a0it\u00a0gives me more control during the application.<\/p>\n

So when I heard about this new flexible liner\u00a0by\u00a0Lanc\u00f4me, I was quite\u00a0intrigued<\/strong>. And I thought I could maybe finally have a liquid liner that suits me!<\/p>\n

What the brands says about it:<\/p>\n

“Achieve the perfect cat eye, winged eyeliner, feline flick and even more looks. Easy at every angle, a 35 degree bendable wand allows for the most precise & easy to apply liquid liner looks.<\/span>
\nThe bent wand allows for precise & direct application to the lash line. The wand bends at a 35 degree angle, and pivots to allow for 2 stable hand positions while applying. While the wand allows for close access to the lash line, the ultra thin tip of the felt applicator gives the clean look. <\/span>
\nAn improved formula uses pigment extracts for a beautiful matte effect. Formula applies smoothly, dries fast, and is smudge-proof & long-wear.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It’s a liquid liner but with a little twist<\/strong>: its wand\u00a0has a smart\u00a0little mechanism inside which\u00a0allows it to pivot to the right or the left with an inclination of 35 \u00b0<\/strong>. This angle helps the product application along the lash line and it’s also supposed to make the drawing of the wing\u00a0very easy peasy!
\nThis innovation is inspired by a famous tip from makeup artists, who often twist the brush of their mascaras or the wand of\u00a0their liner brushes (although I don’t pretend to be a makeup artist, it’s a trick that I use a lot too, especially with my mascaras wink<\/span> ).<\/p>\n

The finish\u00a0of this liner is ultra matte<\/strong>, which I love! There are 3 different shades<\/strong>\u00a0(black, brown and navy blue), and of course, I chose the classic 01 Matte Noir – Jet Black<\/strong> (but the brown was also calling my name).<\/p>\n

The texture is rather liquid<\/strong>, but well pigmented<\/strong>. However, don’t forget\u00a0to shake the bottle well to saturate the liner tip, otherwise the texture is not even and it’s difficult to draw a very sharp line.\u00a0But don’t worry, you can\u00a0easily re-apply some product on top of your first line. wink<\/span> <\/div>\n

– Packaging:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

I really like the design of the packaging, and I love the fact\u00a0that it is flexible. I can bend the wand\u00a0if I want to apply the product super close along the lash line or if I want to draw a sharp wing. And it really helps, it’s not a gimmick!<\/p>\n

– Formula and texture: <\/strong><\/p>\n

Its quite liquid\u00a0but well pigmented.
\nThe formula is water-based, which makes it very easy to remove. And what I find very\u00a0convenient is that you can correct your mistakes very easily:\u00a0it’s possible\u00a0to erase it and it won’t\u00a0leave any black streaks all over your face as other more “oily” eyeliner formulas do. Even if I use eyeliners since like forever, the liquid format\u00a0is not my fave and I definitely need to use a cotton bud\u00a0to correct my mistakes! With this formula, I can fix them without putting it everywhere, which I like a lot!
\nHowever, it’s not waterproof at all, so it’s better to use\u00a0an eyeshadow primer<\/a>\u00a0underneath, otherwise it tends to smudge\u00a0(at least if you have oily eyelids like me)… uneasy<\/span> <\/p>\n

– Color Range:<\/strong><\/p>\n

3 shades (black, brown, navy blue), very\u00a0classic. Very\u00a0Lanc\u00f4me, in fact! Let’s hope the brand expands the range in the coming months. I would love\u00a0a nice burgundy or an emerald green for the fall, what do you think? wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

– Pigmentation and finish:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Very good, the color is intense and very matte, which I really like!<\/p>\n

– Application: <\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s quite\u00a0easy, the fact that the wand\u00a0is bendable\u00a0helps a lot. To be honest, it’s not as precise\u00a0as my super fine\u00a0liner brush by Zoeva, even if the tip of the liner is still quite fine. So usually, I use the Grandi\u00f4se Liner\u00a0the days I really want a pretty intense “cat eye” effect. Because to be honest, I struggle to make a super fine line with it. But this is probably because of\u00a0my lack of experience with the liquid liner format.
\nI apply this liner just after I apply my eyeshadow primer, and I\u00a0only apply some eyeshadow after\u00a0(if I decide to wear any). I finish with my mascara. I do it in this order because of all the corrections I need to do every time with my liner.\u00a0I’d love to be able to do it like a\u00a0pro and finish with my liner after applying all my eyeshadows, but it’s unfortunately impossible for me as I usually mess up all my work with my eyeliner. -_-<\/p>\n

– Lasting power: <\/strong><\/p>\n

The lasting power\u00a0is good if you apply a primer. If not, well, at least on me and my greasy\u00a0eyelids, it smudges\u00a0(it’s not waterproof). But anyway, on\u00a0me, everything smudges\u00a0without a primer\u00a0if it’s not a waterproof formula, so nothing surprising here.<\/p>\n

– Value for money: <\/strong><\/p>\n

Not cheap ($32).\u00a0Even if I think it’s a good product, I don’t think I’ll be collecting all the\u00a0colors… wink<\/span> <\/p>\n

I really like\u00a0the Grandi\u00f4se Liner despite its minor flaws (the price being the main one). I won’t throw away\u00a0my brush and my gel liner but I must admit that this smart\u00a0bendable wand\u00a0really helps me to draw a nice wing!<\/p>\n
