Yeaaah, NARS is launching a new lipstick! I was so excited when I bumped into\u00a0the\u00a0NARS Velvet Lip Glide<\/a>\u00a0in their flagship store when I was in New York last week!<\/h2>\n

I heard\u00a0good things about it\u00a0for weeks and I really wanted to see what\u00a0it\u00a0looks like!<\/p>\n

Considering\u00a0the name of this\u00a0product, VELVET<\/strong>\u00a0Lip Glide,\u00a0I was hoping\u00a0that NARS was finally launching a matte liquid lipstick,\u00a0because that’s what every cosmetic brand is doing at the moment. (Even CHANEL! Going\u00a0a little off topic here, but I had the opportunity to swatch the new Rouge Allure Ink<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0Barneys in New York where it was already available and frankly, they’re so so. The color range is super\u00a0boring with 8 shades\u00a0which look very\u00a0similar: 8 shades of hot pink, baby pink, peachy pink, or pinky red… They apparently love pink lol! And they have a\u00a0weird foam texture which\u00a0reminds me of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Souffle De Velvet<\/a>, which I hate. I really feel like CHANEL have lost their mojo with the last collections. They’re not as exciting as they used to be, don’t you think? But anyway, back to the main\u00a0topic!)<\/p>\n

But to be honest, I really didn’t know what to expect with this NARS Velvet Lip Glide lipstick…<\/p>\n

What the brand says about it:<\/p>\n

“Covetable comfort meets confident color in a high-pigment formula that glides like a gloss, cloaks like a lipstick\u2014and feels like nothing else. Semi-matte color glides on a stays supple without drying or feeling sticky. Developed with Oil Infusion Complex, an innovative concentration of precious oils, fused to create a smooth-glide effect. Fully coats lips on contact with smooth, saturated, semi-matte style.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s a\u00a0hybrid<\/strong> liquid lipstick,\u00a0between a lip lacquer and a lip gloss, with an\u00a0high pigmentation<\/strong>, very comfortable<\/strong> on the lips and with a finish described by the brand as semi-matte<\/strong>.
\nIt’s also moisturizing<\/strong> thanks to an\u00a0oil complex<\/strong> incorporated in the formula. Moreover, these oils make it look\u00a0super creamy<\/strong>. Unfortunately,the same oils prevent these lipsticks from\u00a0lasting a very long time on the lips and with some colors, especially the darker ones, the product tends to migrate a little into fine lines and lip corners<\/strong>. uneasy<\/span> <\/p>\n

There are 13 shades<\/strong> in the range and they retail for $26<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I love the idea\u00a0of naming the products after 70s night clubs! And I also think it reflects quite well the concept of this lipstick: bold shades<\/strong> to show off, a\u00a0shiny finish<\/strong> to be the star\u00a0under the spotlights and a lasting power… errr, ephemeral<\/strong> like the kind of relationships with the people you usually meet\u00a0in such places? tongue<\/span> <\/p>\n

Because\u00a0if you think that the NARS Velvet Lip Glide<\/strong> is a non transfer, long-lasting lipstick as the name would suggest,\u00a0well, it’s not exactly the case…<\/p>\n

NARS Velvet Lip Glide, my test and thoughts:<\/h3>\n
\"NARS<\/a><\/div>\n

–\u00a0Packaging:\u00a0<\/strong>the packaging is beautiful, very simple and chic. It’s a high quality\u00a0plastic (which looks like glass) rectangular bottle with matte black cap printed with the name of the brand. Really\u00a0a\u00a0beautiful object!<\/p>\n

– Texture and feeling on the lips:\u00a0<\/strong>the texture is creamy while being a little gel-like. It glides on the lips (like the name suggests) and it covers the lips\u00a0with an ultra comfortable and nourishing\u00a0layer. It still remains very lightweight on the lips. You can\u00a0feel you’re wearing something, but it doesn’t feel sticky at all. They are very comfortable to wear.<\/p>\n

– Finish:\u00a0<\/strong>I wouldn’t say it’s a semi-matte finish.\u00a0For me, just after the application, the finish is clearly shiny. After 1 or 2 hours, the finish becomes\u00a0matte, it’s true but it also means that the product is fading\u00a0and it\u00a0leaves a lip taint effect on the lips\u00a0(even if you can still feel the comfort on the lips). I\u00a0hope that description\u00a0makes sense lol. It’s really a pretty unique finish!<\/p>\n

\"NARS<\/a>\"NARS<\/a><\/div>\n

– Scent:\u00a0<\/strong>they smell like vanilla, but it’s\u00a0quite\u00a0subtle. I was pleasantly surprised because it’s the first time I notice that\u00a0NARS put a fragrance in its lipsticks! Usually they are fragrance-free.<\/p>\n

– Pigmentation:\u00a0<\/strong>excellent, and they also have a great opacity on the lips. The color is there and in one layer!<\/p>\n

\u00a0– Color range:\u00a0<\/strong>quite nice, with 13 different shades of pretty nudes and bolder colors. There are also 3 red shades in the range and\u00a0I found them quite. I wanted to choose 1 from the 3 and when I swatched them in the shop, I didn’t see a huge difference between them.\u00a0As a result, it’s mostly the name that directed my choice! (Le Palace is the name of a mythic Parisian club #parisiangirlforever wink<\/span> )<\/p>\n

So I chose Bound<\/strong>, a sublime pinky nude mauve\u00a0(what a surprise, I know lol)\u00a0(but trust me, this color is absolutely stunning) and Le\u00a0Palace<\/strong>, a beautiful cherry red.<\/p>\n

\"NARS<\/a><\/div>\n

– Application:\u00a0<\/strong>super easy, thanks to the small and precise applicator. It distributes the right amount of product on the lips. It is also very easy to re-apply throughout the day (and it’s a great thing,\u00a0considering the lasting power, ahem;) ).
\nPersonally, I first applied in a first layer on the lips, I blot the excess\u00a0in a tissue and I just reapply some in\u00a0the center of the lips. This technique improves the lasting power\u00a0and prevents the product from smudging too much.<\/p>\n

– Lasting power:<\/strong>\u00a0not the best, to be honest. They last around 3 hours on me, and they usually don’t survive a meal.<\/p>\n

– Value for money:\u00a0<\/strong>they retail for $26, which is not a surprising price for the brand.<\/p>\n

NARS Velvet Lip Glide, the colors:<\/h3>\n

– Bound:\u00a0<\/strong>finding the right nude color, the one that suits you, is usually\u00a0a question of mixing the right colors! The right amount of pink, adding a bit of\u00a0beige nude (not too peach nor too orange), a hint of mauve\u00a0and tadam! You have your perfect\u00a0nude! (well at least, that’s the right mix of colors for me wink<\/span> )
\nBound<\/strong> is the perfect shade of\u00a0pinky mauve nude<\/strong> for me! Every time I wear it, people\u00a0ask me what is\u00a0on my lips. It’s always a\u00a0good sign, isn’t it? smile<\/span> <\/p>\n

– Le Palace:\u00a0<\/strong>a beautiful darker red shade, rather warm<\/strong> without being too orange. It contains\u00a0a very fine\u00a0golden shimmer<\/strong>\u00a0that doesn’t really show on the lips\u00a0once the product is applied. It’s a stunning shade!\u00a0Something to know however: it’s better to apply a lip\u00a0pencil before because it may tend to smudge a little bit.\u00a0It’s kind of a high maintenance product.<\/p>\n

In short, even though I’m crazy about the Bound color, I’m a little bit disappointed by these NARS Velvet Lip Glide… Perhaps it’s because the name is a bit misleading, but I’d prefer a matte liquid lipstick. The formula is not hyper innovative even if it’s nice to have such a comfortable product on the lips.
\nHonestly,\u00a0I don’t think I’ll collect the colors like\u00a0I do with the NARS Audacious lipsticks! (Did you see\u00a0the new shades??? Apoline<\/a> is to die for! heart<\/span> heart<\/span> <3)<\/p>\n
