I promised myself I would stop buying more matte liquid lipsticks. (Yes, I know, I don’t even believe it myself) But the new\u00a0Armani Lip Magnet<\/a>\u00a0liquid lipsticks, which are supposed to be revolutionary, made me change my mind!<\/h2>\n

It’s quite\u00a0funny\u00a0because my very first matte liquid lipstick was already an Armani. It was the Lip Maestro<\/a> in the shade 402. I discovered it four years ago, and I wore it so much that I managed to half empty it! An impressive feat when you know how big my lipstick collection is…<\/p>\n

Since the Lip Maestro lipstick was released (quite innovative for 2012), there have been so many different matte liquid lipsticks in the market, by so many makeup brands. To keep up, Armani had to pull out all the stops by launching nothing less than a revolutionary<\/strong> matte liquid lipstick.<\/p>\n

So let’s see if the Armani Lip Magnet<\/strong> fulfills its promises!<\/p>\n

What the brands says about them:<\/p>\n

An extremely fine texture, unparalleled sensation of weightlessness, intense color concentration, ultra-chic matte finish and flawless, long-lasting wear: LIP MAGNET is all this and more. <\/span>
\nLIP MAGNET is the first liquid lipcolor to offer unprecedented color concentration in the finest of textures, while perfectly fusing with the lips. <\/span>
\nLIP MAGNET delivers incomparable results: intensity of color, extreme finesse and a makeup finish with a matte, second-skin effect.<\/span>
\nTwo major accomplishments: <\/span>
\n– After application, color is twice as intense thanks to a \u201cgradual evaporation\u201d phenomenon.<\/span>
\n– The finish is four times thinner than a liquid lipcolor (40 to 10 micrometers). <\/span>
\nThis long-lasting (up to 8 hours) matte lipcolor is never greasy or sticky; it does not migrate or dry your lips. Lips stay hydrated and perfectly defined for hours on end, with a very pleasant bare-lips sensation.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Lip Magnets are matte liquid lipsticks<\/strong>, but they have not been designed as conventional lipsticks, generally made of waxes. Armani has, actually been inspired by it’s own technology, used for the famous Maestro\u00a0foundation, a foundation able to merge with the skin.
\nThe Lip Magnet formula is a water-in-oil emulsion<\/strong>, like a mix of oils, pigments, and water that gradually evaporates after the lipstick has been applied, allowing the oils and pigments to merge with the lips<\/strong> and leave an intense color veil with a luminous matte finish<\/strong>. Indeed, even if the water phase has evaporated, this mix of intense pigments and fine oils remains on the lips creating a very vibrant color. Also, this technology gives an unusual sensation on the lips: the Lip Magnets are so lightweight that you can barely feel them on the lips<\/strong> as if you’re not wearing anything on your lips!
\nIn summary, the brand boasts its Lip Magnet to be 4 times thinner<\/strong> than a classic lipstick, and 3 times more pigmented<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Finally, with more innovation, this Lip Magnet also has an ultra-design and super precise applicator<\/strong> to draw perfect contours.<\/p>\n

There are 18 colors<\/strong> in total in the range, and they retail for $38<\/strong>. (Yes, they’re not cheap! Apparently, innovation has a price)<\/p>\n

I chose 3 shades: 302 Hollywood<\/strong>, 506 Fusion<\/strong> and 600 Front-Row<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0Packaging:\u00a0<\/strong>a pretty bottle that reminds me of the Lip Maestro (except that it is 2 times smaller) (including the quantity of the product too, unfortunately). It has the same format as a classic tube lipstick, except that it’s a bottle with an applicator. And this applicator is so good! It has an almond shape, and it’s a real technological gem: its tip is super fine and ultra-precise (no need for lip pencils with this applicator, the contours are so sharp with it). It distributes the right amount of product on the lips… In short, you can feel they spent a lot of time designing it, and they did a great job!<\/p>\n

– Texture and feeling on the lips:\u00a0<\/strong>the texture is quite liquid and very fine. It’s not runny at all and it dries in a few minutes. You feel the water evaporating from your lips and the product setting on the lips; it’s a strange feeling! Once it’s dry, you barely feel the product. And it doesn’t feel drying at all. I wouldn’t say it’s moisturizing or even comfortable either. It’s really like you’re not wearing anything on the lips. So if your lips are usually dry, it won’t change their condition, but it won’t dry them either.<\/p>\n

– Finish:\u00a0<\/strong>a beautiful luminous matte finish, which makes the color velvety and vibrant.<\/p>\n

– Scent: <\/strong>they’re fragrance-free.<\/p>\n

– Pigmentation and opacity:\u00a0<\/strong>for me, it’s their main weakness. The formula is so fine that the opacity on the lips is not the greatest in a single pass. You need to layer it to have an entirely opaque result. On the other hand, the texture is so fine that it layers pretty well! It’s not patchy at all, it doesn’t crumble when it dries. But you definitely need to build the color!<\/p>\n

\"Armani<\/a><\/div>\n

\u00a0– Color range:<\/strong> 18 classic shades, going from pink to red and coral. No nudes colors, however, such a shame… In short, no crazy colors, only wearable ones. Armani targets a rather traditional clientele in its choice of colors! 6 of them already exist in the brand’s other lipstick ranges, and 12 are brand new shades.<\/p>\n

– Application: <\/strong>I already mentioned it above, thanks to the great applicator, the application is very easy, but you still need several layers to achieve an opaque result on the lips.<\/p>\n

– Lasting power:<\/strong>\u00a0average. On me, if I don’t eat, it lasts 4 to 5 h on my lips. As the texture is very fine, the color loses some intensity after half a day, but since the product is easy to layer, it’s very easy to touch up. Another info: they’re not 100% transfer free.<\/p>\n

– Value for money: <\/strong>they retail for $38, and it’s not cheap, I’m not gonna lie. Although I find the product great overall and the packaging very impressive, the capacity of the bottle is quite small.\u00a0I guess it’s what they call an uber luxurious product…<\/p>\n

– 302 Hollywood<\/strong>:<\/strong> a\u00a0stunning orange-red, one of Armani’s signature colors. It’s very bright, almost neon. I have a weakness for this kind of poppy red which gives a lot of radiance to the face.<\/p>\n

– 506 Fusion<\/strong>: to be honest, I was quite disappointed by this color. I was convinced that it would be a nude pink but not at all. It’s a medium warm pink. It’s a pretty color, but I hoped for something more neutral, more nude…<\/p>\n

– 600 Front-Row:<\/strong>\u00a0an excellent surprise! When I saw the color in the bottle, I was afraid that it was too dark and a bit dull but in fact, not at all! It’s a very nice neutral berry, slightly maroon. It’s very easy to wear at the moment. I love it!<\/p>\n

In short, I really like the innovation of these lipsticks (both for the formula and the packaging with this great applicator), but I’m quite bummed about their price, which I find quite expensive considering the quantity of product you get. I guess innovation is very expensive!<\/p>\n
